Tümay Erman, 1997 yılında Dokuz Eylül Üniversitesi Güzel Sanatlar Fakültesi Seramik ve Cam bölümünden lisans derecesi aldı. 2001-2002 yılları arasında St. Maarten/NA Üniversitesi İngiliz Dil Akademisi'nde eğitimini tamamladı ve 2018 yılında Dokuz Eylül Üniversitesi Güzel Sanatlar Enstitüsü'nde Seramik ve Cam alanında Yüksek Lisans derecesi aldı ve Kristalin sırlar üzerine bir tez tamamladı. 2001-2015 yılları arasında yurtdışında yaşarken, 2009 yılında ABD, New York'taki Alfred Üniversitesi'nde sır kimyası üzerine bir yaz eğitim programına katıldı. Şu anda, verdiği dersler aracılığıyla seramik sırlarının kimyası üzerine araştırmalarını ve deneyimlerini paylaşıyor ve aynı zamanda konuyla ilgili bir kitap yazıyor.
